Parents,

I know you all are anxiously awaiting information as to what school will "look like” this fall.  Today the Minnesota Department of Health did release guidance for the return to school.

I don't have all of the answers at this time and decisions will be fluid, especially in 12 and under programming.  This is what I do know:

  • The decision will be a local decision (Redwood Area School Board) as the state no longer has emergency powers.

  • The RASD Board of education  will recommend that unvaccinated staff and students wear masks.

  • The MS/HS will return to normal for the most part.  There will be some cleaning and other facility mitigations

  • Elementary (RG) is a bit different-none are vaccinated.  The Board is reviewing guidance and will make a determination on protocols.

  • The buses are considered public transportation and still fall under the mask mandate.  This is a federal mandate.

  • Quarantine-only identified positive cases will quarantine and close contacts notified but not mandated to quarantine (this may change for 12 and under or in the case of known spread).

  • At this time all lunches are back to normal.  Again elementary is still under review.

  • There is no current plan for distance learning.

***If you have a child 12 and under and have a valid medical reason to keep your child at home, please contact me asap.  You can reply to this email or contact me at:  bcselovszki@redwoodareaschools.com

I will be evaluating these cases and formulating a plan based on numbers and needs.

I will continue to send updates as I have them.

Becky Cselovszki, Superintendent of Schools
