Parents,
I know you all are anxiously awaiting information as to what school will "look like” this fall. Today the Minnesota Department of Health did release guidance for the return to school.
I don't have all of the answers at this time and decisions will be fluid, especially in 12 and under programming. This is what I do know:
The decision will be a local decision (Redwood Area School Board) as the state no longer has emergency powers.
The RASD Board of education will recommend that unvaccinated staff and students wear masks.
The MS/HS will return to normal for the most part. There will be some cleaning and other facility mitigations
Elementary (RG) is a bit different-none are vaccinated. The Board is reviewing guidance and will make a determination on protocols.
The buses are considered public transportation and still fall under the mask mandate. This is a federal mandate.
Quarantine-only identified positive cases will quarantine and close contacts notified but not mandated to quarantine (this may change for 12 and under or in the case of known spread).
At this time all lunches are back to normal. Again elementary is still under review.
There is no current plan for distance learning.
***If you have a child 12 and under and have a valid medical reason to keep your child at home, please contact me asap. You can reply to this email or contact me at: bcselovszki@redwoodareaschools.com
I will be evaluating these cases and formulating a plan based on numbers and needs.
I will continue to send updates as I have them.
Becky Cselovszki, Superintendent of Schools
