RETURN TO SCHOOL UPDATE

August 25, 2021

Parents,

The RASD Board did pass a resolution on Monday, August 23, 2021 that addresses the return to school plan and mitigation efforts.

The resolution and protocols at this time include:

  • The RASD Board of education  recommends that staff and students wear masks.

  • All schools will return to normal for the most part.  There will be some cleaning and other facility mitigations

  • The buses are considered public transportation and still fall under the mask mandate.  This is a federal mandate.

  • Quarantine-positive cases will be quarantined and close contacts will be notified and it is recommended to quarantine and test.  Student assignments and work will be sent home for students that are out on quarantine as we would for other missed days.

  • Students with COVID symptoms will be sent to the nurses office and required to mask.  They will be set home with recommendations.

  • All staff/students entering the nurse's office will be required to be masked.

  • There is no plan for distance learning.

The RASD Board of Education will continue to monitor public health recommendations and case rates in our district and schools.  The goal is to keep our students in school and healthy.  If we need to make a change to the above, you will be notified.

One last note, at this time it is important for parents and students to respect the decisions of others.  Any verbal or physical harassment regarding a staff/student choice to mask or not will be dealt with under the approved harassment policy.  Please talk with your children about this scenario.

I will continue to send updates as I have them.  Two weeks until the First Day of School!

Becky Cselovszki, Superintendent of Schools
