3rd Grade Families,

It’s hard to believe that the end of first quarter is Wednesday and that we already have had our first snow fall of the year.  Please make sure your child is coming to school dressed appropriately!  Last week in class students finished the addition unit and did AMAZING!  They also were working on main idea and key details, safety, and personal narratives.

This week we will being to work on subtraction.  Once again students will be taught the standard algorithm but may use other strategies as well.  In reading, we will continue to work on main idea and key details of a text.  Students will also wrap up their health unit with Mrs. Estebo.  In writing, students will also be completing their personal narratives.  There will be no math homework this week!

  • AR – Wednesday students are expected to have 6 points.  Next quarter students will need 8 points.  Over MEA break is a great time to get a jump start on these points.
  • MEA – There is no school on Thursday and Friday this week.
  • Book Orders – Thank you to everyone who has placed an order.  I am hoping that they come in before break.
  • Cardinal T-shirts – These finally came in.  The school had over 500 shirts ordered.  I sent these home last week, as well.
  • Colder Weather – Please have your child bring warm clothes to wear both inside the classroom and outside.  The temperature in our classroom and school can vary so they need to be prepared for both.  As the weather continues to get cooler please make sure that students are wearing clothes that are warm enough to play outside.

I hope that everyone has a great week and that students enjoy their few extra days off.  If you have any questions please let me know.

Enjoy the week,

Mrs. Anderson
