Welcome to Redwood Valley Middle School
Here are the highlights for this week:
Inclement Weather Ahead – Plan Accordingly
The brutal weather of winter is coming soon (maybe it’s already here)! Please pay attention to projected weather, specifically the temperatures and wind chills to plan accordingly for your student on their travel to and from school. We urge you to dress your students in pants, coats, hats, and gloves!
As we get into the heart of winter, please be aware of the potential for eLearning days. Refer to the school website for specific information or reach out to specific teachers for their eLearning day plan. You can find more information below:
We officially survived our first eLearning Day of the year! As questions come up do not hesitate to contact teachers directly or myself!
Standards Based Grading
As we continue to transition to Standards Based Grading, our goal is to keep you as informed as possible and answer questions as they come up. Please take a few minutes to watch this video for more information on our transition.
With the end of the quarter and semester coming at the end of the week, do not hesitate to reach out to teachers for more information regarding assessment and student scores.
Just a reminder to provide a doctor’s note when you visit a doctor/dentist. This will keep the absence from accumulating towards the eight days you are allowed for absences.
Site Council is a group of parents, teachers, and community members who meet to discuss the Middle School, and provide ideas, suggestions, guidance, etc. to make our school a better place. Site Council meets four times each year for 1 hour each night (7:00 p.m.).
We are looking to increase our number of representatives on the council. Our goal is to have 2 parent/guardian representatives from both grade levels. If you are interested in becoming a member, let me know. We would love to have more parents serve on this committee!
Nurse Update = No More Fluoride Services
Dear Families of Students K-6th grade,
This notice is to inform you that Redwood Area Schools will no longer be offering the Fluoride mouth rinse program at school. Unfortunately, the vendors have discontinued manufacturing the fluoride mouth rinse cups.
We have found an alternative opportunity that may fit your families fluoride needs. We have partnered with Minnesota School Sealant Program (MSSP), a service offering preventive dental services at school! They offer dental sealants, fluoride varnish and teeth cleanings. We hope to have MSSP visit our schools each Fall and Spring. To participate, you just need to complete a consent form. The online form can be found at www.schoolsealants.com/consentform and more information can be found on our district website under “Nurses Corner”.
If you have any questions, please call the Reede Gray Health Office at 507-644-7111.
