*The Redwood Area School District provides Early Childhood Health and Developmental
Screening for all children who are 3 ½ -5 years of age. Early Childhood Screening helps determine a child’s readiness for kindergarten. Minnesota law mandates that every child must be screened once before entering kindergarten. While a child may be screened any time before kindergarten, it is best to participate at age three or four so that any health or developmental concerns may be addressed sooner rather than later. The Redwood Area School District offers the free of charge screening in January and October each year. Families should receive a letter inviting them to a screening.
Included in the screening are Hearing & Vision checks, an Immunization & Health History review, and assessments of Communication Skills, Large and Small Motor Abilities, Concept Development, and Social/Emotional/Behavioral Development.
If you have any questions regarding Early Childhood Screening, contact Kara Kuehn, Early Childhood Program Coordinator at Redwood Valley Elementary School. 507-644-8939 kkuehn@redwoodareaschools.com
