Welcome to the Teaching & Learning Office
The heart of the work I do as a Director of Teaching and Learning is to affirm the great things that are happening in our Redwood Area School District classrooms and to help facilitate change where needed. I count myself blessed to work with professional educators everyday who work tirelessly on behalf of our student-learners. The adults also desire to be learners themselves and that is what brings energy to work and to my responsibilities.
Reede Gray Elementary is discovering both a new English Language Arts curriculum (CKLA) and a new Science curriculum (Inspire Science). Our 5th, 6th and 7th grade students are experiencing a new Science curriculum through Amplify Science. Teachers have been formally trained and have worked countless hours to make these transitions smooth and impactful. I am thankful for a great team of teachers who dove headfirst into this work over the summer so that students would have strong standards-based learning opportunities starting immediately upon starting the school year.
RASD is implementing a new Social-Emotional Learning curriculum this year: Character Strong. All Kindergarten through 12th Grade students will spend time in their homerooms discovering how attributes such as Respect, Courage and Resilience will help each of them become stronger learners and stronger people. It will also provide for our entire District to weave a K-12 message together to be a stronger team of learners and leaders.
Our students are fortunate to have leaders and teachers who believe in them. Thank you for the encouragement to continue to do great things in the Redwood Area School District.
