Congratulations to our 1/5/24 Reede Gray Cardinal Code Shoutouts this week. As we have been talking about Empathy we have also been talking about our own Kindness. One way to practice Kindness is through Empathy. Empathy has been described as ‘standing in someone else’s shoes.’ It makes us feel connected and understood. It’s the kind of Kindness that makes our world a better place. Our students have been working on growing their Empathy. We are so proud of them. #OhHeyReedeGray #ReedeGrayElementary #CharacterStrong #AlwaysTheCardinalWay #CardinalCode #BeKind #Empathy #Waunsiwada

Mr. Bebeau and some of the 7/8 choir members came caroling through the middle school halls yesterday. He even brought sheet music for all of us to join along. As Buddy the Elf says, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”

Congratulations to our 12/22/23 Reede Gray Cardinal Code Shoutouts this week. Practicing Empathy helps us make new friends and make our friendships and connections even stronger. Empathy isn’t just thinking about how others feel, it’s taking action! Our students have been working so hard on Empathy. We are so proud of them. #OhHeyReedeGray #ReedeGrayElementary #CharacterStrong #AlwaysTheCardinalWay #CardinalCode #BeKind #Empathy #Waunsiwada

Yesterday RVHS students volunteered time in the Lower Sioux Indian Community at the Food Pantry. The students learned that the Food Pantry is open to anyone (not just citizens and Jackpot Junction employees) and that people come from as far away as Mankato to receive dairy, fresh produce, and canned goods which vary week from week. Items such as fresh ground bison and frozen walleye from Red Lake were among some of the foods that they helped stock in the freezer. Once they finished stocking shelves and breaking down boxes they were allowed to shop as if they were each supplying food for a week for a family. They learned about the typical cost of a week's worth of groceries for a family and how to best prepare with meal planning. The Food Pantry staff also shared how important it is that people visit and leave with what they can use for their family meals as funding is based on the needs of the entire community, meaning if it is not utilized, funding will cease. We thank the Lower Sioux Indian Community for sharing this valuable resource and learning opportunity for our students.

Congratulations to our local RVHS Voice of Democracy Essay Winners. Blake Stephens won first place and Lilianna Carter earned second place. Thanks for VFW Post 2553 for sponsoring this program. Great work students!

RVMS Dress Up Days

Congratulations to our 12/15/23 Reede Gray Cardinal Code Shoutouts this week. Empathy is understanding and connecting to other peoples feelings. We can ask others how they are doing, and really listen to them and understand how and why they are feeling a certain way. When we take the time to understand and connect with others, we make our school a place where everyone belongs. We are so proud of them. #OhHeyReedeGray #ReedeGrayElementary #CharacterStrong #AlwaysTheCardinalWay #CardinalCode #BeKind #Empathy #Waunsiwada

Students in Mr. Berggren's History of Rock and Roll class learned about Hard Rock music from the band Leaving Hope. Students were able to talk with band members about their music and enjoy a "mini" concert.

SAVE THE DATE! Reede Gray's Winter Game Night is Monday, January 29th!

Congratulations to our 12/8/23 Reede Gray Cardinal Code Shoutouts this week. We are talking about Empathy this month. Empathy is one way to show Kindness. It means understanding and connecting to other people’s feelings. We can connect with others in many ways, like listening carefully to a friend or being a friend when someone is sad and showing that you understand how they feel. Our students are doing just that, practicing and using empathy. We are so proud of them. #OhHeyReedeGray #ReedeGrayElementary #CharacterStrong #AlwaysTheCardinalWay #CardinalCode #BeKind #Empathy #Waunsiwada

Drone Technology students are learning how drones are currently used in agriculture as well as new and emerging technologies. Thank you to Next Gen Ag and Redwood Alumni Andrew Lueck and Jenna Whitmore for stopping in today!

Last week RVHS students had the opportunity to see The Christmas Carol at the Guthrie Theater. Students had front-row seats to the experience and got the chance to meet some of the actors after the show.

Students in Kaille Heltemes's Foods for Living class competed in a Chopped Kitchen Challenge using MREs from the National Guard. Groups were tasked with recreating a meal and serving it to judges.
