Mr. Bebeau and some of the 7/8 choir members came caroling through the middle school halls yesterday. He even brought sheet music for all of us to join along. As Buddy the Elf says, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”

Yesterday RVHS students volunteered time in the Lower Sioux Indian Community at the Food Pantry.  The students learned that the Food Pantry is open to anyone (not just citizens and Jackpot Junction employees) and that people come from as far away as Mankato to receive dairy, fresh produce, and canned goods which vary week from week.  Items such as fresh ground bison and frozen walleye from Red Lake were among some of the foods that they helped stock in the freezer.  Once they finished stocking shelves and breaking down boxes they were allowed to shop as if they were each supplying food for a week for a family.  They learned about the typical cost of a week's worth of groceries for a family and how to best prepare with meal planning.  The Food Pantry staff also shared how important it is that people visit and leave with what they can use for their family meals as funding is based on the needs of the entire community, meaning if it is not utilized, funding will cease. We thank the Lower Sioux Indian Community for sharing this valuable resource and learning opportunity for our students.

Congratulations to our 12/15/23 Reede Gray Cardinal Code Shoutouts this week. Empathy is understanding and connecting to other peoples feelings. We can ask others how they are doing, and really listen to them and understand how and why they are feeling a certain way. When we take the time to understand and connect with others, we make our school a place where everyone belongs. We are so proud of them. #OhHeyReedeGray #ReedeGrayElementary #CharacterStrong #AlwaysTheCardinalWay #CardinalCode #BeKind #Empathy #Waunsiwada

Congratulations to our 12/8/23 Reede Gray Cardinal Code Shoutouts this week. We are talking about Empathy this month. Empathy is one way to show Kindness. It means understanding and connecting to other people’s feelings. We can connect with others in many ways, like listening carefully to a friend or being a friend when someone is sad and showing that you understand how they feel. Our students are doing just that, practicing and using empathy. We are so proud of them. #OhHeyReedeGray #ReedeGrayElementary #CharacterStrong #AlwaysTheCardinalWay #CardinalCode #BeKind #Empathy #Waunsiwada

Congratulations to our 12/1/23 Reede Gray Cardinal Code Shoutouts this week. As important as it is to feel Gratitude, it is also important to show others that you are Grateful. Showing your Gratitude to others will make them feel appreciated. You can do this simply by saying “Thank You” and tell them Why. We are so proud of them. #OhHeyReedeGray #ReedeGrayElementary #CharacterStrong #AlwaysTheCardinalWay #CardinalCode #BeKind #Gratitude #WopidaBduhe
