The Minnesota Department of Education and the USDA had a last minute change in the extension of the summer food program. The change has resulted in the RASD being able to offer FREE lunches to all of our students! This included lunches for the days our students are off site.
If you have sent lunch money, the district has deposited into your child's account. This free program is set to expire at the end of December or before if federal funds run out. In addition, at the high school an a la carte menu will be available (in the near future) to purchase additional items if your child wishes to do so.
With this change, the district is asking two things...
1. Please encourage your child (7-12) to participate in the off day lunch program by picking up a meal at the end of each day in which they are in school for the next day.
2. Please, if you have not already done so, complete the free and reduced lunch form. This form generates revenue for the school district for general fund programming. The completion by October 1st helps the district financially, despite the fact that all students currently are receiving a free lunch. So we appreciate your support by completing this form. If you need another form, you can find one on the district website under Food Service.
