Congratulations to our 1/26/24 Reede Gray Cardinal Code Shoutouts this week. Think about something that you are good at. You just weren’t born with these skills—you learned them through practice and Perseverance. Now think about something that you would like to learn—you are just a little practice and Perseverance away. This week's students are being celebrated for Persevering through new and challenging things. We are very proud of each of them! *Be Respectful *Be Responsible *Be Safe #OhHeyReedeGray #ReedeGrayElementary #CharacterStrong #AlwaysTheCardinalWay #CardinalCode #Perseverance #Wacinmatanka

Congratulations to our 1/19/2024 Reede Gray Cardinal Code Shoutouts this week. Perseverance is what helps us learn new things and reach our goals. It looks like running your fastest, kicking your hardest, pushing yourself to keep going even when you are tired or want to give up. It looks like continuing to practice your spelling words again and again and again even if you keep spelling it wrong or working on math over and over again until you reach your goal. Perseverance is NGU-Never Give Up. We can all do hard things. We are very proud of each of them! *Be Respectful *Be Responsible *Be Safe #ReedeGrayElementary #CharacterStrong #AlwaysTheCardinalWay #CardinalCode #Perseverance #Wacinmatanka

Congratulations to our 1/12/2024 Reede Gray Cardinal Code Shoutouts this week. Perseverance is our focus this month. It means pushing yourself to work through challenges and obstacles. It is what happens to you when you keep trying, even when it gets tough. When you can’t figure out a problem, then you try to solve it another way until you get it right–that’s Perseverance. We are very proud of each of them! *Be Respectful *Be Responsible *Be Safe #ReedeGrayElementary #CharacterStrong #AlwaysTheCardinalWay #CardinalCode #Perseverance #Wacinmatanka

Congratulations to our 1/5/24 Reede Gray Cardinal Code Shoutouts this week. As we have been talking about Empathy we have also been talking about our own Kindness. One way to practice Kindness is through Empathy. Empathy has been described as ‘standing in someone else’s shoes.’ It makes us feel connected and understood. It’s the kind of Kindness that makes our world a better place. Our students have been working on growing their Empathy. We are so proud of them. #OhHeyReedeGray #ReedeGrayElementary #CharacterStrong #AlwaysTheCardinalWay #CardinalCode #BeKind #Empathy #Waunsiwada

Mr. Bebeau and some of the 7/8 choir members came caroling through the middle school halls yesterday. He even brought sheet music for all of us to join along. As Buddy the Elf says, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”

Yesterday RVHS students volunteered time in the Lower Sioux Indian Community at the Food Pantry.  The students learned that the Food Pantry is open to anyone (not just citizens and Jackpot Junction employees) and that people come from as far away as Mankato to receive dairy, fresh produce, and canned goods which vary week from week.  Items such as fresh ground bison and frozen walleye from Red Lake were among some of the foods that they helped stock in the freezer.  Once they finished stocking shelves and breaking down boxes they were allowed to shop as if they were each supplying food for a week for a family.  They learned about the typical cost of a week's worth of groceries for a family and how to best prepare with meal planning.  The Food Pantry staff also shared how important it is that people visit and leave with what they can use for their family meals as funding is based on the needs of the entire community, meaning if it is not utilized, funding will cease. We thank the Lower Sioux Indian Community for sharing this valuable resource and learning opportunity for our students.
